"It's Just Collective"

For the past couple of years, we have been working on becoming more than just church at Collective. Yes, we are a church, but we are much more and are aspiring to be even more for our community.

First of all, the facilities are the meeting place for the Collective family and for community and regional folks who are looking for a place of connection and belonging throughout the week.

We have a coffee shop / cafe in our main lobby area where we envision small groups gathering, students studying and hanging out, or folks just meeting up for business discussions or just catching up over a cup of coffee or tea.

Our vision for the future includes facility expansion for more lobby and commons space, playground and recreation expansion for our community and for our littles at Collective and to become more of a “hub” or gathering place for people at times other than just Sunday or Wednesday evening.

The definition of “Collective” is: a group of entities that share or are motivated by at least one common issue or interest or work together to achieve a common objective.

We are Collective. Welcome.

The Truth About Collective
Collective isn't perfect. We’re full of messy people. Our volunteers, staff members, and leaders don’t have it all together. The people who attend Collective? They could be: drunks, addicts, adulterers, liars, gossipers, gluttons, abusers, selfish, jealous, and divisive – and worse. But we wouldn’t have it any other way. Why We Want To Be A Messy Church: We want to be a messy church because we want to be like Jesus, who went to the messy people. Jesus cares so much about imperfect people that He left heaven and came to earth (1 Timothy 1:15). Jesus spent time with the needy, flawed, and diseased. He didn’t isolate Himself from common, everyday people who realized they needed a change in their lives. The same way a doctor is moved to heal the sick, Jesus came to earth to heal the imperfect (Matthew 9:10-13). Church isn’t a place of perfection, but of progress. A Church For Sinners The Church cannot be concerned with maintaining an image of perfection if we want to obey Jesus. Jesus has never been afraid to embrace the controversy of associating with the wrong crowd. The Church is for imperfect people. It exists to help imperfect people meet Jesus and follow Him step by step. Our imperfections are not projects to fix, but opportunities to see a miracle. Each of us has a story about how Jesus met us in our mess and has been changing us from the inside out. We can’t fix each other, but we can support, correct, and encourage each other. Jesus removes our sins and we learn to live in the freedom He’s given us by His death on a cross and resurrection from an empty tomb (Romans 6:6-8). For any church (or person) to claim perfection would be a scandal. Church isn’t a place of perfection, but of progress. We make progress when we listen to Jesus and do what He says (Philippians 3:13-14). Once we’ve met Jesus, our lives never stay the same. We were stuck in our imperfection, but God doesn’t leave us there. When we come to Jesus admitting we’re flawed and struggling with sin, He forgives us and takes over our lives so we learn to do life His way. God’s mercy covers all our mistakes (Isaiah 55:6-7). As we take our next steps in our walk with Jesus, people notice. The closer we follow Jesus’ example, the more we will attract people far from God. No one is too controversial or scandal-ridden for God’s grace. If you’re looking for a safe, perfect church, sorry. We’re not it. We’re a work in progress but God isn’t done with us. We’ve got a lot of flaws, but He’s got even more patience. However, if you’re looking for a church full of imperfect people who struggle, but take one step at a time with Jesus, you’ve found the right place. The Truth is, we are all on a journey. A journey to discover true life. A journey to make a difference. A journey for change... We’re glad you are here. If committing to Collective is your next step, show up Sunday before 10:00am, grab a coffee at Collective Cafe and find a place in the auditorium. We are looking forward to the journey!
